Dating websites (FMP submission

My film idea is based around a couples reliance on technology, and whether or not they would be able to function without it. With this in mind I began researching how technology can influence a relation, my first point of interest was dating websites. over the last 5 years or so there has been a great increase in the amount of people looking for love online, and more and more dating websites have been created to compensate for this. As I researched deeper into this field I was amazed as how many people are part of dating websites, and how successful they were for finding a relationship. My first question however was why people were joining them in the first place, I personally believe that it is because of the faster pace of life we have compared to 10 or 20 years ago. People want access to information at the click of a button and dating websites allow people to view another person’s personal information, often without that person ever being aware of it. Another factor that has contributed to the increase popularity of dating websites is that it benefits a different class of people. Some members of the public are not confident enough to approach a woman in a bar or cafe, for these people dating websites are perfect. safely hidden behind a monitor they are able to project their own ideal image of themselves.
